PAYROLL

Keeping on top of payroll responsibilities is often a headache for employers. Regular changes to the payroll regime – including the introduction of Real Time Information reporting of tax, national insurance and other deductions in April 2013  – can make it difficult to stay up-to-date and compliant with the rules and regulations. At the same time, errors and omissions can lead to financial penalties.

If you’re wondering if there’s a better, cheaper way to handle your payroll than dealing with it in-house,we would be delighted to speak to you about how we can help you.

Our professional payroll service offers a fast, efficient, cost-effective alternative to dealing with payroll issues in-house, including:

  • complete confidentiality

  • setting up payroll schemes and payroll data input

  • processing to the payroll frequency you require

  • dealing with all payroll payments and deductions, including bonuses, overtime, Statutory Sick Pay, Statutory Maternity, Paternity and Adoption Pay, union subscriptions, student loans, pension deductions

  • electronic salary payments directly to your employees, plus secure, detailed payslips

  • Construction Industry Scheme returns

  • liaising with HM Revenue & Customs on payroll issues

  • dealing with HM Revenue & Customs enquiries

  • friendly advice on payroll issues, over the phone or via email.

MAKING TAX DIGITAL

MTD is the most fundamental change to the administration of the tax system for two decades. The changes are so fundamental it’s important to understand what's involved and what it means for your business reporting.

MTD is a key part of the Government’s plans to make it easier for individuals and businesses to get their tax right and keep on top of their affairs through a fully digital tax system.

The initial roll-out of MTD has already started. Every small business owner and individual taxpayer now has an HMRC digital account that they can access to check their records and manage their information.

  • VAT registered businesses (with turnover above the VAT threshold £85k) will be the first group required to report on VAT figures only. Exceptions do apply here, some business / organisational structures were not required to report until October 2019.

  • Other taxes will come under the scope of MTD for these businesses after April 2020.

  • Non-corporate businesses with a turnover between £10k and £85K will not be asked to record their tax digitally until at least April 2020 but they can voluntarily opt in.

It’s hoped MTD records will offer many benefits by helping businesses manage their taxes more effectively through:

  • Providing a complete picture of your business – through your digital account you will be able to see an overview of your tax affairs and manage liabilities at the same time.

  • Near real-time reporting – HMRC aim to collect and process tax information in as near to real-time as possible.

  • Knowing your tax liability – no longer will you need to wait till the end of the tax year to know how much tax you are due to pay.

VAT

VAT is a notoriously challenging part of the UK tax regime and its rules and regulations are becoming increasingly complex.

Meeting reporting requirements can be time-consuming but businesses face the risk of surcharges or financial penalties for late filing or payments or non-compliant returns.

We offer help and advice in layman’s terms on all VAT matters, can complete VAT returns on your behalf and also deal with any special schemes or partial exemption calculations and annual adjustments.

We have ready access to the latest VAT notices and rules from HM Revenue & Customs and can also assist with VAT registration, deregistration, post-deregistration input VAT claims and with misdeclarations.
